The House, overlooking Lakes
Carriglea House is a 19th century Victorian Manor house’ and is one of the jewels in the crown of Killarney accommodation. Its location alone is unrivalled, sitting on a slight rise overlooking The Killarney Lakes and Mountains, in a peaceful countryside setting but still within walking distance to Killarney town and across the street from the entrance to The National Park. There are pubs and restaurants and a supermarket within a few minutes walk, along a promenade. The house itself, like the setting is totally unique, it has kept its old world charm but with modern conveniences discreetly included. This period house has an interesting history mirroring the history of Ireland from the landlord era to the present day
The rooms are all large with the drawing room and dining room featuring some wonderful antique furniture and large bay windows with lake views. The bedrooms have their own private bathroom. The kitchen is modernly equipped with the addition of an AGA stove which will be the one piece of equipment you will wish to take home with you. The kitchen larder is an old confession box, which adds to the charm. All rooms are en suite and equipped with television and hairdryer. Free WIFI throughout.
The Grounds at Carriglea
The Gardens are large with huge lawns and mature gardens with some very interesting features, including a pond, with a natural water fountain. The entrance to The National Park is just across the street, with 24 hour free access, which allows you to pursue different interests, maybe it’s an early morning jog or a romantic lakeside stroll or visiting an old abbey, it’s all there on your doorstep.
We offer The House on a self-catering basis for large groups, family reunions etc. It provides plenty of space in a unique location. You will have exclusive use of the house, its 2 large sitting rooms, large dining room, kitchen, laundry room etc. Wake up each morning and gaze out the window at Lough Leane, the wonderful grounds at Carriglea, from the wild rabbits playing in the lawn to the lakes and mountain backdrop, take a stroll down our tree lined avenue through the farm and see our cows and calves grazing contently near a mystical fairy fort, meet our donkey ‘Paddy’ and our rescue pony ‘Beauty‘, just cross the street to the boathouse and enjoy postcard scenery and on the hot days take a dip in the lake.

Bed & Breakfast
Carriglea has being welcoming guests since 1932. We can offer both bed and breakfast and self-catering options. We are proud to continue our family tradition, making us the oldest bed and breakfast in Killarney. Each year as we welcome both new and return guests, we realise that our visitors are as much a part of the history of the house as our family is. Breakfast is cooked, with freshly laid eggs from our chickens on the traditional Aga stove and is served in The Dining Room, under the pink porcelain chandelier, as it has always been done
